Lingerie Talk

So every girl has to wear lingerie. Whether it be a target bra and hanes panties or fancy La Perla bra and pantie sets, every girl has to have some under garmets. Some say the outfit starts with the under garmets, and looking your best starts underneath. This helpful infographic gives us a little inside scoop on the facts about lingerie.
The first few statistics are a bit predictable. The majority of people find lingerie very important (including myself), as opposed to not important at all. And 21-30 year olds care the most about lingerie, coming in at just about half.
Where this gets interesting is reading about what your lingerie says about you. Those black bra wearing women are said to be clean, strong and powerful. White wearers are loving, in touch with their emotions and natural beauties. Red wearers are bold, passionate and dramatic and blue wearers are romantic and artsy. Any of you female infographers notice any of these trends? I think I just pick pretty pieces, regardless of color, but I can see each stereotype playing out. [Via]

Most Streets in Japan Don’t Have Names

In Japan, they use a very different addressing system than is used in most Western countries.  Rather than streets having names (the space in between blocks), they give blocks numbers and leave the space in between the blocks, streets, nameless. (There are some exceptions to this where certain streets do have names, like main thoroughfares, though these are generally largely ignored by locals, postal workers, etc.)
To illustrate how this system works from a practical standpoint, look at the map on the right.  The city area is divided up into blocks, with each one being given a number. If you want to find some location, rather than asking what street something’s on, you’d rather ask what block it is in.
When you are on a particular street and wonder how to get to a specific block; you can’t intuitively know that if you continue along the street, you’ll get to a specific block that exists adjacent to that street.  Rather, you’d either need to be familiar with the area, or need a map/GPS/etc.  Luckily, you’ll notice if you walk around Japanese cities, you’ll see maps posted in key locations like train stations and bus stops, so locating a block, relative to your current location, usually isn’t that difficult.

The world’s 6 richest pets

Few pets are this house proud.

People love pets. From the ordinary to the exotic, humans love to look after other species, whether they are as common as a cat or as endangered as an eagle. We often devote more time and affection to our furred and feathered friends than we do to our own kin.

Fascinating Facts About Rats

Few creatures in the world inspire more dread than the rat. Long a symbol of death and pestilence, they haunt our nightmares and scuttle in our walls, scaly tails dragging behind them. Rats cause billions of dollars in damage every year, spoiling food supplies, chewing through electrical wires, biting babies in their cribs – and yet their benefits to mankind have been simultaneously overwhelming. Read below for further information on some of our creepiest neighbors.

Although there are many different species of rats, the one most people associate with the word are Brown or Norway rats. Likely originating in China, the largest specimens can top 2.2lbs. Norway rats plague cities such as New York (where population estimates vary wildly- from a few hundred thousand to a few hundred million depending on your source) and London and have pervaded nearly every corner of the globe with the rare exceptions of Arctic and Antarctic areas, the Canadian province of Alberta, and pockets of New Zealand. The white albino rats used in laboratories and kept as pets are domesticated versions of this species.
